Principal’s message

Dear parents, staff and students,

On Tuesday 9th June all students and staff will commence face to face teaching and learning. Some of you may be excited, while others may be more worried. Some may feel a mixture of emotions, just like returning to school after a long summer break. Many of these feelings are quite normal. You have had to adapt to a new routine in a very short span of time during the period of remote learning. You all have done a great job so far. Well done. Now, you all need to establish new routines once face to face teaching and learning commences again. In order to achieve the best outcomes, we should all try to have a positive mindset and be patient during this readjustment period. All school staff members are always available to help and support when you are in need.

While the daily school routine and most activities will remain the same, there will be some new practices that we all will need to establish asap for the safety of ourselves and others. For example, how often we wash our hands, or how we use the shared equipment in sports lessons will need to be altered. You can find the details of these new practices and adjustments below.

Spray disinfectants and paper towels will be provided in each class. Students will wipe their own chairs and tables at the beginning of the lesson. If you need to share equipment in certain subjects like sport, science, arts and food tech, extra precautions will be implemented. The equipment will have to be cleaned with disinfectant before use and you will have to use hand sanitizer or wash your hands before and after every class. Please keep in mind not to touch your face during the lesson, and again, please wash your hands frequently. Hand sanitizers will be available in the corridors and classrooms. Every morning when you enter the school, make sure you wash or sanitize your hands. As a precautionary measure water fountains will not be available for use. Students are required to bring their own water bottles.

In order to prevent crowds at the locker areas;

Year 7 to 12 WEEK 9 - A and B Classes are to be dismissed 5 min earlier before recess and lunchtimes and at the end of the last period unless there is an assessment to complete.
Year 7 to 12 WEEK 10 - C and D Classes are to be dismissed 5 min earlier before recess and lunchtimes and at the end of the last period unless there is an assessment to complete.

Students are expected to go to their lockers earlier before school, towards the end of recess, and lunchtimes to prevent crowds at the locker areas. Teachers at yard duty will remind you about these new measures. Please follow their instructions.

We will work together shoulder to shoulder and overcome all the difficulties we face during COVID-19. Please do not hesitate to approach your teachers or school management if you need help or have any questions.

It has been amazing to witness our teachers go above and beyond expectations to deliver the content to support our students during remote teaching and learning. For that, I would like to thank each and every one of them from the bottom of my heart. I truly appreciate the ongoing dedication and sacrifice of all our staff in this unusual time.

I also would like to take this opportunity to thank all our parents for being mindful and for their ongoing support during these unprecedented times.

I wish everyone a safe and productive time for the rest of the term.
